They have the Beer Batter here!

It's a California League tradition. If the pre-designated opposing hitter strikes out, beer is $2 for the next 10 minutes. It's always amusing to watch people get up from their seats to get a head start toward the concession stand when there are two strikes on the beer batter.

Battle of the Rebuilders

The A's and Orioles were both supposed to be rebuilding this year. Both teams traded away arguably their best pitcher and best position player for a boatload of prospects. The A's dumped Dan Haren and Nick Swisher, while the Orioles traded Erik Bedard and Miguel Tejada.
